PV Voices - PV Spirit: submit your POV of the Plateau Valley PV Spirit Winners September 2014

Small Business > John Rule, owner of OneImage Graphic Design

The Plateau Valley Small Business Spirit Winner for September is John Rule, artist, designer, and owner of OneImage Graphic Design.  John moved back to the Plateau Valley in 1996, with "his life back" and a new, yet old, career path.  After completing a year of service as an Americorps volunteer, John attended classes at Mesa State College where he learned to use a digital tablet to draw his cartoons and his computer to record, file, and store his artwork.

Having been employed to draw political cartoons for both The Daily Sentinel and The Aspen Times, John began drawing political cartoons digitally for Hal Lindsey's new newsletter and website in 2001, (yes, the same Hal Lindsey that's on TV).  Then in 2003, John started his own website to post his cartoons and to showcase a few samples of his artwork.  Drawing digitally and updating his own website is the "new" part.  However, his portfolio of artwork, cartoons, caricatures, and ad design covers a "few decades"...

John states that his "cartoons are designed to spark spirited discussions."  Whether or not you agree with his position(s), John's artistic talent and specialty of drawing caricatures are evident.  We applaud John's initiative, dedication, and the goal of his website to be "a testimony of the love and compassion God has for us."

John and his wife Patsy are also the co-founders of Li'l Shells Ministry, a children's feeding ministry next to a huge dump site on the island of Cebu, in the Southern Philippines.
